About the Program:
The Accreditation Association has been surveying and accrediting managed care organizations since 1983. The Accreditation Association's managed care standards are developed with active industry input. They include the evaluation of such critical functional areas as enrollee communications systems; enrollee complaint and grievance resolution systems; utilization management, including enrollee appeal procedures; quality management and improvement; and provider credentialing and re-credentialing systems.

The Accreditation Association's Managed Care Program has received Medicare Advantage Deemed Status from the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services.

Resources:
In order to help managed care organizations prepare for an accreditation survey, the Accreditation Association has developed the AAAHC Accreditation Guidebook for Managed Care Organizations. This Guidebook provides information on the Accreditation Association's standards and how they are applied to managed care organizations. This guidebook also includes information on policies and procedures, as well as worksheets to help managed care organizations prepare for their survey.
