Description

The Physical Environment Checklist for Ambulatory Surgery Centers provides a schematic review of the fire and life safety issues that must be addressed by surgical facilities seeking Medicare certification by the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS). This checklist is based on the 2000 Life Safety Code 2000®(LSC) and covers general requirements in addition to those related to exiting, electrical systems, medical gas and vacuum systems, fire protection, building services, and operational issues.

CMS adopted the 2000 edition of the LSC effective March 11, 2003.  All ambulatory surgery centers opting to complete a AAAHC/Medicare Deemed Status Survey will be surveyed for compliance with the CMS Conditions of Coverage, including the requirement for compliance with the LSC 2000®.  The Physical Environment Checklist provides a framework for organizations to assess whether they meet the requirement of the LSC 2000®.

This document is included, in its entirety, in the current edition of the Accreditation Handbook for Medicare Deemed Status Surveys. By clicking "Add to cart," you are opting to purchase the stand-alone content.
