New York ASCs
The New York State Department of Health requires that ambulatory surgical centers (ASCs) obtain accreditation from the Accreditation Association or other approved accreditation entity within two full years of operation. After an initial licensing inspection, the Department will accept an accreditation survey in lieu of its own re-licensing inspection, if the ASC completes a Collaborative Survey Process Authorization form.

To obtain this form, please contact the New York State Department of Health at 518/402.1003.

The new law defines office-based surgery as a surgical or invasive procedure requiring general anesthesia, oederate or deep sedation, and certain liposuction procedures performed in a location other than a hospital.
